Moments & Memories: The Sinew of Life

Confidence, Joy, Leadership, Let's Get Real, Mindset

A series of moments is all we have – that’s life.

That’s it.

There is no finish line (not even death), there is no great bang at the end of the race. Confetti doesn’t shoot out a canister when you beat the competition and ‘win’ at life.

That doesn’t happen.

Life is a string of moments, no more. The finish line does not exist.

Doesn’t that take the pressure off? Can’t you breathe a little freer knowing that no-one’s timing you or holding you to an invisible standard of accomplishment and accolade?

I know when I arrived at that realization I dusted my shoulders off and said, Heeeeey world, pressure’s off, this is going to be so much fun.

Here’s where it gets really interesting. We, lucky us, get to design our string of moments. We get to choose how we spend them. And most powerfully, we choose how we feel in them – no matter the circumstance.

I don’t have goals anymore because, for the most part, I find them oppressive. What I do have are intentions, dreams and desires, and you best believe those are written down and reviewed on the regular – monthly has worked well for me.

I know how I want to feel. I focus on that every day. By focusing on the feelings, I can better choose my moments, my actions, my attention.

When I focus on the moments and LET GO of the end result, life weaves the most remarkable tapestry, and I’m often looking around thinking, Huh I asked for that, and here it is.

Focus on the moments, making each the best feeling moment you can; the results will take care of themselves.

I know this for sure, and I know it more than ever since the relaunch of Miniskirt Ninja, that when you’re doing your life’s work – and I don’t mean just in your business – then even when you are working your business, it feels like an extension of yourself – a piece of your play.

It’s an integrated life.

For those of you who are a little fuzzy on the ‘life’s work’ part of life, it’s not like you arrive at your mission one day and say, Eureka! I decree that this will be my sole focus for the remainder of my minutes. No. You discover your purpose layer by layer over time, and it becomes more enriched, rooted, and clear with every moment spent in alignment with it.

So if you find yourself thinking, I shouldn’t do this, or I should do this. Stop and ask yourself what kind of moment you really want to have. And is it really true, this belief of should or shouldn’t?

We’re at the end of the 27th week of this year, just over halfway. Think back on the last 6 months, and write down your 3 most heart opening, blissful moment – your 3 biggest wins.

They can be simple, they can be small, but if they open your heart and stick in your mind, they are powerful indeed.

What can you do to cultivate more of those moments? How can you be intentional with the way that you spend them?

You get to be the full expression of yourself whenever, wherever, and however you choose.

It is my deepest wish for you that you choose to be fully expressed now, and now, and now and now as you string together a life of moments that make you sah Ahhhh.

Love and This Moment,
